New Chisel Tip Available for Efficient Tissue Ablation

Monday, January 5th, 2004

Fremont, CA - Hoya ConBio is proud to announce that the new chisel tip is now available for their DELight Dental Laser. The tip is made of high quality sapphire, and is ideal for a wide variety of soft tissue procedures because it ablates very efficiently in a series of “dashes” rather than the “dots” obtained from standard cylindrical tips. “Even with the DELight’s advantage of its 30 hz repetition rate, this shape produces a cleaner line or incision compared to cylindrical tips when ablating soft tissue,” says Thomas Haney, Vice President Dental Products. “The tip also can be used with a water spray to cut hard tissues, including bone.” Because of its unique shape, the flat side of the tip can be used to guide it along a surface that will not be affected by the laser because the tip is end-cutting only. The working length is approximately 15 mm and tapers from a 1 mm diameter input to a 1.4 mm by 0.4mm rectangle. This adds yet another option to Hoya ConBio’s wide variety of tips. The chisel tip can be used with the laser’s straight sleeve or the right angle handpiece.
