I use my MedLite® laser as a very safe method of hair removal, especially on any darker skinned individuals. Although I have no proof that this method will eventually lead to a permanent reduction of hair, the laser does yield satisfactory results for my patients.

By utilizing wavelengths that avoid transmitting heat to the skin, the RevLite™ and MedLite® C6 lasers are able to provide excellent results for hair removal with a greatly reduced risk of pain or side effects. These premium-engineered lasers penetrate deep enough to damage the hair at its root without damaging the outer layer of skin – on all skin types.
Treatment Specifications
Hair removal is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the country. The ability to provide effective laser hair removal for all skin types can provide a competitive advantage to practices of any size and scope. Physicians who offer professional hair removal often welcome new patients from referrals. In fact, professional hair removal is often a patient’s first experience with an aesthetic medical laser. Successful treatment usually motivates patients to explore other laser-based treatments, generating organic growth for the practice.
RevLite™ and MedLite® C6 lasers offer effective, safe hair removal plus a spectrum of other FDA-cleared treatments, including skin resurfacing for the treatment of wrinkles and acne scars, tattoo removal, and treatment of pigmented lesions (brown spots). These multi-purpose premium engineered lasers produce exceptional results safely, quickly, and efficiently. Because of their unique versatility, the RevLite™ and MedLite® C6 lasers add value to an aesthetic medical practice.

The MedLite® laser was developed as the original Q-switched Nd:YAG technology in 1992 and has been extensively improved with each generation. The MedLite® IV was cleared for hair removal by the FDA when it launched in 1997. The MedLite® C6 (2002) pioneered a new generation of Q-switched technology. This advanced system uses an electro-optic (EO) Q-switch to produce high-speed pulse widths at peak energy, targeting the hair follicle with a PhotoAcoustic effect. The RevLite™ laser, introduced in 2007, builds on this heritage of success and innovation, featuring PhotoAcoustic Technology Pulse™ (PTP) – a unique dispersion of energy that produces very narrow pulse widths with up to 60 percent more power, even over larger spot sizes.
Both the MedLite® C series and RevLite™ lasers offer wavelength variations for a wide variety of procedures. The 1064 nm wavelength is ideal for hair removal, penetrating deeply enough to damage the hair bulb with very little risk of hyper- or hypo-pigmentation, or other side effects common with the use of other lasers on dark skin. The RevLite™ and MedLite® lasers have a significantly reduced risk of skin blisters or burns because the hair removal action is PhotoAcoustic rather than photothermal; peak energy is dispersed though the epidermis faster than the normal relaxation time of healthy tissue, and avoids transmitting heat to the skin’s surface. The energy is delivered so forcefully and evenly, it vibrates and shatters the hair shaft, with minimal discomfort to the patient. Because there is minimal heat delivery to the skin’s surface, there is no need for costly and cumbersome cooling devices. Physicians report that the MedLite® C6 and RevLite™ lasers are particularly effective on dark vellus hair and paradoxical hypertrichosis.
