GENERAL INFORMATION

What is a laser?

A laser is a device that delivers light energy in a narrow, focused wavelength. First used for aesthetic purposes nearly 20 years ago, lasers generally fall into two categories:

  • Ablative lasers resurface severely photodamaged or aged skin by using heat to vaporize the top layers of the skin. During the healing process, a new healthier skin appears with fewer wrinkles and smoother texture.
  • Nonablative lasers do not damage the top layer of the skin, but instead safely deliver their energy under the skin’s surface to stimulate collagen or target skincare concerns. Nonablative lasers can improve the tone and texture of the skin without any downtime or post-treatment care.

Other light-based devices used in aesthetic medicine deliver several wavelengths at once – a spectrum of light. Although not technically lasers, these IPL devices are often grouped in the same category because they are used to treat dermatologic indications.
Do laser treatments hurt?

The MedLite C6 and RevLite lasers use PhotoAcoustic energy to target the skin. The procedure is very comfortable. Patients will feel the pulses as quick tingling sensations, like very tiny rubber bands snapped against the skin. For some procedures such as tattoo removal, the dark ink can absorb a larger amount of energy and a patient may feel some discomfort. In these cases, a physician may use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment.

How much are laser treatments?

The price for a laser treatment varies depending on the type of procedures (i.e., skin rejuvenation vs. tattoo removal), the complexity of the treatment and the location/practice of the doctor.

Are lasers dangerous for your eyes?

Because laser light can damage the sensitive eye, both doctor and patient wear protective goggles.

SKIN REJUVENATION

How can lasers help improve my skin’s appearance?

The MedLite C6 and RevLite lasers use PhotoAcoustic energy to gently penetrate the skin and stimulate the collagen fibers, working to improve the skin’s scaffolding and structure. After just one treatment, patients experieince improvements in the skin’s tone and texture – and results are best after 4-6 sessions.

Can the MedLite C6 or RevLite reduce wrinkles?

The MedLite C6 and RevLite are clinically proven to reduce wrinkles. The PhotoAcoustic energy stimulates collagen growth, replenishing the lost collagen that creates fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

What about acne scars – can the MedLite C6 or RevLite help reduce scars caused by acne?

The MedLite C6 and RevLite work very well to reduce the most common types of acne scarring. The PhotoAcoustic energy stimulates collagen remodeling, and over time the acne scars are minimized or eliminated. Some physicians are believe these lasers are also helpful in treating active acne by using the PhotoAcoustic energy to reduce oil (sebum) production, a key factor in acne.

When will I see results from PhotoAcoustic laser treatment?

Patients will feel a difference in the texture of their skin after the first treatment with the MedLite C6 or RevLite laser. Because collagen takes time to grow, you will continue to see improvement over the next weeks. After 4-6 sessions, you’ll notice a dramatic improvement, including smaller pores, more even tone, softer texture. Many patients choose to have monthly or quarterly touch-up sessions to maintain their results.

Can I have laser treatment in combination with dermal fillers, neurotoxins, microdermabrasion and/or surgery?

MedLite C6 and RevLite can safely be used to complement other aesthetic procedures. Different types of lasers and light-based devices can also be used together to target different cosmetic concerns. Your doctor will recommend the best treatment or combination of treatments for you.

Can I go back to normal activities or work immediately after treatment?

Yes, you can carry on with normal activities after your laser procedure. Treatment with a MedLite C6, RevLite should take less than 15 minutes … with no downtime or post-treatment care. You can even apply make-up after treatment if you wish.

TATTOOS

Can lasers erase all tattoos?

Lasers are the safest way to remove tattoos. But, not all lasers can erase tattoos. As with any laser-based skincare procedure, a physician must choose the correct wavelength based on the color of the tattoo ink. The MedLite and RevLite lasers are considered the gold standard for single and multi-color tattoo removal.

Why are MedLite and RevLite considered gold-standard for tattoo removal?

The original MedLite was introduced nearly 20 years ago, pioneering the use of PhotoAcoustic energy for tattoo removal and other indications. Since then, ConBio™ scientists have updated and evolved this laser based on clinical studies and physician feedback. The current version, the MedLite C6, represents state-of-the-art technology. The RevLite is built on the same core platform as the MedLite C6 – and harnesses 60% more power for certain procedures.

How do PhotoAcoustic lasers work to eliminate tattoos?

The PhotoAcoustic energy works to gently vibrate and fragment the tattoo ink into tiny micro-particles that are gradually eliminated by the body’s natural process.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

The tattoo ink absorbs a great deal of the laser energy and some patients may feel mild discomfort as the physician traces the design. Topical anesthetic may be applied prior to treatment to minimize any discomfort.

How long will it take to remove my tattoo with a laser?

Depending on the size of the tattoo, the amount of colors and the type of ink, you will need 6 to 15 sessions.
